ANG ZHI YANG, ANDREW joined Admiralty Secondary School on 2 January 2015 and graduated on 31 December 2018 after completing his GCE 'O' Level Examination. 
Andrew is compassionate student with a calm demeanour. He is very respectful in all his dealings and was mindful of the feelings of others. Being a person with moral integrity, he can be counted on to make sound decisions. He was a good team player and was able to work cooperatively with others to meet the group's goals. He was resilient in the face of difficulties and always strove for excellence in his undertakings. As the class Secretary, he was sincere and respectful in his interactions with his peers, he took initiative in assisting teacher in the collection of forms.
Andrew is very hardworking and often took the initiative to maintain and improve his grades. He was undeterred by setbacks and instead constantly strove to better his academic results. Andrew was always attentive in class. He took the initiative to clarify doubts and was prompt to implement the feedback provided to improve his grades. He took great pride in whatever he did and tried to produce work of high quality. He aimed for high standards of performance and spared no effort in ensuring that he attains academic excellence.
Andrew was a dynamic and dedicated member of the National Civil Defence Cadet Corps (NCDCC) from 2015 to 2018. He contributed greatly to the CCA and held the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSG) as well as the appointment of Assistant Administrative in-Charge in 2018. Andrew was initiative, meticulous and focussed, excelling in completing assigned tasks with quality. He was an independent who came up with fresh & innovative ideas and solutions, and challenged conventional practices in seeking constant improvements in the unit’s administrative tasks. Highly responsible and dependable, he can be entrusted with great responsibilities. He was involved in various NCDCC organized event, and one notable event was the Medical Specialization Course in 2017, where he was certified as a trained first aider in CPR, AED and first aid. He was also involved in community work such as Emergency Preparedness Day at Nee Soon South, raising awareness of fire safety and first aid, and teaching to the public life saving skills. He has also been awarded the school-based Outstanding Contribution Award (OCA) in 2018 for his consistent effort placed in CCA activities throughout the 4 years. In addition , his contributions, together with his fellow peers had been significant as their leadership helped the unit clinch the Gold award for the NCDCC Unit Overall Proficiency Award (UOPA) in 2018.
Across the past four years, Andrew was exposed to the various needs of the community and gamely served each of these needs in his own way. In the Waste Minimisation Project in 2015 and the ADSS Tiong Huat Heng Recycling Collection Project in 2016, Andrew started out by learning about the importance of recycling. In the Sec 2 Learning for Life Programme (Keep Admiralty Clean Programme) in 2016, he learnt about how to promote good social habits. In 2017 and 2018, he participated in the Learning for Life Programme, visiting the National Kidney Foundation (NKF). He showed great compassion for sincerity during his interactions with the patients. Through this programme, he collaborated with his classmates, applying Design Thinking to understand the challenges faced by the patients and creating prototypes of suggested solutions to improve their lives. This allowed him to broaden his perspective of the bigger issues in society as he further developed his understanding of the challenges faced by them. 
Andrew will be an asset to any organisation he joins in the future. His determination and commitment towards his endeavours are traits that will assure him of success in whatever he does.
